treasures of tradition:
contemporary contemplation

an essential aspect of christian prayer and spiritual maturity, contemplation has been misunderstood and marginalized in various christian churches for many years.  a recent contemplative re-awakening in christian circles has led many believers to become aware of the scriptural foundations and the continuous practice of contemplation in christian life and spirituality—an extensive and rich taproot for a life of belief.  kevin helps believers wade gently into this extensive and rich sea so that they might engage their faith in a renewed way by exploring tradition and practice.

kevin m. johnson has spent the last 15 years developing his understanding and practice of christian prayer, theology and service.  he left practicing law to pursue a phd in theology, which he will complete soon. a lifelong roman catholic, he’s run numerous workshops and retreats on a wide variety of theological topics for those outside the walls of academia. his passion for contemplative practice led him to establish the inner room, a sanctuary for lay practice of prayer, mediation, and contemplation for compassionate service to the world. officially recognized by the roman catholic church, the inner room is interested in fostering respectful dialogue with people in different facets of the church, other faiths, and secular culture while remaining faithful to the tradition within which it’s situated.
